02Verify your vial

Three steps from label to lab.

  1. 01Scan the label

Every vial label carries a QR code. Point your phone camera at it.

  2. 02Land on its record

The code opens that lot's certificate with every assay value. No phone? Type the lot from your packing slip on Verify a lot.

  3. 03Check it with the lab

Each signed certificate links to the lab's own verification page, so the report can be confirmed independently of us.

04In the lab

How AICAR is studied to work.

AICAR is a nucleoside that cells convert to ZMP, an AMP mimic that activates AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). In hepatocytes it nearly stopped fatty acid and sterol synthesis, and in perfused muscle it raised fatty acid oxidation and glucose uptake.

Compound

  1. Liver lipid synthesis

    Hepatocytes

    • ZMP
    • AMPK
    • HMG-CoA

    Endpoint studied

    Sterol and fat synthesis off

ZMP built up without shifting ATP, ADP or AMP; AMPK was activated and HMG-CoA reductase inactivated.

    Corton 1995 · PMID 7744080
  2. Muscle fuel use

    Perfused hindlimb muscle

    • AMPK
    • ACC
    • Malonyl-CoA

    Endpoint studied

    2.8-fold fatty acid oxidation

AMPK rose, ACC was inactivated and malonyl-CoA fell; glucose uptake rose while oxygen uptake did not change.

    Merrill 1997 · PMID 9435525
  3. GLUT4 translocation

    Perfused hindlimb muscle

    • AMPK
    • GLUT4

    Endpoint studied

    More GLUT4 at the membrane

Glucose uptake rose as GLUT4 moved to the surface membrane, as with contraction.

    Kurth-Kraczek 1999 · PMID 10426389

05Research history

13 years in the literature.

5 milestones, each linked to its PubMed record

  1. 1995

    European Journal of Biochemistry

A tool to switch on AMPK

In hepatocytes AICAR forms ZMP, activates AMPK without shifting ATP, ADP or AMP, and shuts down fatty acid and sterol synthesis.

    PubMed · PMID 7744080
  2. 1995

    FASEB Journal

    Fat and cholesterol synthesis

In hepatocyte suspensions AICAR inactivated acetyl-CoA carboxylase and HMG-CoA reductase, cutting fatty acid and cholesterol synthesis.

    PubMed · PMID 7737463
  3. 1997

    The American Journal of Physiology

    Fatty acid oxidation in muscle

In perfused hindlimb muscle AICAR activated AMPK, lowered malonyl-CoA and raised fatty acid oxidation 2.8-fold, plus glucose uptake.

    PubMed · PMID 9435525
  4. 1999

    Diabetes

    GLUT4 moves to the membrane

AMPK activation by AICAR raised glucose uptake in perfused muscle through GLUT4 translocation to the surface membrane.

    PubMed · PMID 10426389
  5. 2008

    Cell

    Endurance in a lab model

Four weeks of AICAR in a sedentary laboratory model switched on muscle metabolic genes and raised running endurance by 44%.

    PubMed · PMID 18674809 Latest

06Questions

Frequently asked questions.

About AICAR, its certificate and your order.

Need assistance? We’re here to help.

Email [email protected], Monday to Friday. A person replies within one business day.

01Which lot will I receive?

The current released lot, SA-AIC-2610. Scan the QR code on the vial label to open its certificate. The lot number is also on your packing slip, and the full certificate is here.

02Is the certificate real, and can I check it?

Every certificate is issued by an independent laboratory. Each lot has its own public record page with every assay value, and a link to verify the report on the lab's own site once the signed PDF is posted.

03Why does net content show more than 50 mg?

Vials are filled slightly over the labelled mass so that every vial meets it. Net content is measured on each lot and published as a number, not a pass.

04What if the vial arrives without vacuum or damaged?

Email [email protected] within 7 days with your order number and a photo and we will replace it.

05When will it ship?

Orders by 2 PM ET on a weekday ship the same day, with tracking emailed when the label prints.

06Is AICAR for human use?

No. It is sold strictly for in-vitro laboratory research and is not for human or animal use of any kind.
