MT-2 (melanotan II) is a cyclic analog of alpha-MSH that binds and activates the MC1, MC3, MC4 and MC5 receptors. Laboratory work links it to MC1R-PTEN signaling in melanoma cells, nitric oxide release, and histamine from mast cells.
